Sammy Goncalves is a professional wakesurfer and 2024 Pro Men's Surf World Champion known for pushing surf-style progression behind the boat. He started wakesurfing in 2016, began competing in 2017, and turned pro in 2020.
Sammy rides for Centurion Boats and spends most of his time behind the Ri230, the same model used at major wakesurf events. His riding blends big airs with technical surf-style tricks, and he is known for making difficult maneuvers look clean and controlled.
Off the water, Sammy studies Aviation Management and Flight at the Florida Institute of Technology and trains in jiu-jitsu and MMA. He also rides for Phase 5 Wakesurf Boards and has worked on his signature Viper pro model.
On Wakr, Sammy shares the boat setups and wave-dialing process he actually uses on the Ri230, including ballast, speed, stinger plate settings, surf plate adjustments, and the small changes he makes for regular and goofy waves.
His approach is practical: start with a reliable baseline, test the whole wave, save profiles when something works, and make one adjustment at a time instead of chasing random settings every session.
